Some love stories begin with a swipe, a chance encounter, or a blind date. Mac and Carleigh's story began much earlier—back in middle school. After years of friendship, they started dating in high school and have now spent four and a half wonderful years building a relationship rooted in friendship, trust, and adventure.

As lifelong residents of Pinehurst, North Carolina, these two share a deep love for the Sandhills area. Whether they're exploring the outdoors, heading out on new adventures, or simply spending time together, they are happiest when they're side by side. Their connection is effortless, genuine, and one that is immediately apparent to anyone who spends even a few minutes with them.

For their engagement session, we met in the heart of Southern Pines, one of my favorite locations for capturing couples who love a mix of charm, character, and natural beauty. From the moment we started photographing, I found myself repeatedly calling them "adorable"—because honestly, there was no better word to describe them. Their laughter came easily, their smiles were genuine, and they made every moment feel natural and fun.

One of my favorite things about photographing engagement sessions is getting to see how couples interact when they're simply enjoying each other's company. Mac and Carleigh were completely themselves throughout the evening. Whether they were walking hand-in-hand, sharing quiet moments together, or laughing as they whispered in each other's ears, their love story unfolded effortlessly in front of the camera.

What makes their relationship especially sweet is the foundation they've built over the years. Growing up together, becoming best friends, and then choosing each other every day has created a bond that is both strong and enduring. It's clear that they not only love one another but truly enjoy being together.

The next exciting chapter in their story will take place at the beautiful Fair Barn, where they will celebrate their wedding surrounded by family, friends, and the community they both cherish so deeply. Knowing how much they love Pinehurst, it's no surprise that they plan to stay here for many years to come, continuing to build a life filled with adventure, laughter, and love.
