Elegant Spring Wedding at the Country Club of North Carolina
Some wedding days feel extra special from the very beginning, and Stephen and Katie’s May wedding at the Country Club of North Carolina was exactly that. Their story for me actually began five years earlier at Katie’s sister Taylor’s wedding day. Back then, I could have never imagined I would one day walk into Taylor’s home to photograph her younger sister’s wedding. It truly felt like a reunion. The first familiar face I saw was Taylor, followed by Ashton — another JB bride — and then Katie, glowing with the most radiant smile, excited for the day she had dreamed about for so long. I also got to see Blair another JB Bride. So wonderful to see so many familiar and joyful faces.
Katie’s mother, Pam, warmly welcomed me in and showed me where all the carefully curated details were tucked away. The heirloom pieces, elegant invitations, soft florals, and sentimental touches were the perfect way to begin documenting such a meaningful celebration. I remember hearing of how they met. The two first crossed paths at Katie’s best friend’s wedding back in 2022 — also at the Country Club of North Carolina. There is something incredibly special about beginning your story in a place and later returning there to celebrate becoming husband and wife. It felt beautifully full-circle.
The wedding day itself was absolutely stunning. Katie spent the morning getting ready surrounded by her closest friends and family. Every room was filled with joyful anticipation and happy emotion. Before the ceremony, Katie shared a heartfelt first look with her father. She also gathered with her bridesmaids for a sweet moment of prayer before walking down the aisle. The church was breathtakingly adorned with lush, elegant florals by Hillside Florist. Soft blooms framed the ceremony beautifully and created the most romantic atmosphere for Stephen and Katie to exchange vows. And then came one of my favorite moments of the entire day — seeing Stephen’s expression as Katie walked down the aisle. The look on his face said everything. Pure joy and admiration all wrapped into one unforgettable moment.
Their ceremony was filled with happy tears, meaningful glances, and the kind of love that feels deeply grounded and genuine. After they were officially announced as husband and wife, everyone made their way to the Country Club of North Carolina for an unforgettable evening of celebration.
Now I had remembered hearing that golf played an important role in Stephen’s life, but it wasn’t until the best man’s speech during the reception that I realized just how significant it truly was. Stephen turned red and guests cheered as one of his best friends shared his incredible accomplishments in the golf world, including being recognized as one of the top youth golfers in the world. Naturally, I found myself looking it up the moment I got home. Katie is also quite accomplished with two degrees from UNC! And Taylor's speech was both heart-felt and hilarious! She is so proud of her sister as she spoke both witty and deeply meaningful advice for her dear sister and new brother-in-law as they start a new chapter in their life.
The reception was full of nonstop laughter, incredible dancing, and so much joy. The live band kept the dance floor packed all evening and brought an energy that made the night feel truly electric. Every part of the evening reflected Stephen and Katie perfectly — elegant, joyful, welcoming, and full of life. From the emotional moments shared with family to the unforgettable celebration that followed, Stephen and Katie’s wedding day was nothing short of extraordinary. It was such an honor to witness another chapter unfold for a family I have now had the privilege of photographing for five years.
Stephen and Katie, thank you for allowing me to be part of such a beautiful day. Your wedding was timeless, heartfelt, and an absolute dream from beginning to end.
