Vizcaya Villa Wedding Day for High School Sweethearts / NC Wedding Photographer
Some weddings are extra special because they feel like family—and Sean and Skylar’s wedding day at Vizcaya Villa in Fayetteville was exactly that. My family has known Sean for a few years now. He works at Casino Guitars in Southern Pines, one of my husband Lewis's favorite places to visit. Whenever Lewis walks through their doors, he feels right at home, like part of their family. So when Sean reached out about a month before the wedding to ask if Lewis could photograph their wedding, Lewis immediately sent me a message: “Do we have any plans for September 6?” As soon as he said it was for Sean’s wedding, I couldn’t wait to say yes. Before the big day, we had the chance to meet Skylar over dinner at one of our favorite local restaurants, Chef Warren’s. From the very beginning, we knew these two were something special. Sean and Skylar are sweet, creative, and full of artistic energy. Their love story stretches all the way back to high school, and the depth of their history together shined throughout their wedding.
Skylar poured her heart into planning her wedding with help from her friends and her mom. When we arrived at Vizcaya Villa, her bridal party welcomed us with so much warmth, instantly making the day feel cozy and joyful. Skyler herself is one of the sweetest brides we’ve met—unique in style, sentimental at heart, and absolutely radiant. She handed me carefully chosen details, many of them family heirlooms. Sean is just as sentimental—the engagement ring he gave Skylar has been passed down through his family for generations. Lewis joined the men as soon as we got there...I couldn't tell if Lewis was more excited about Sean getting married, or just getting to hang out with the guys and talk guitar...lol!
Before the ceremony, Sean and Skylar shared an intimate first touch, standing just around the corner from one another to exchange personal vows. It was one of the most emotional moments of the day. Skylar wrote the most heartfelt words to her Sean. Sean’s joy and overwhelming love were written all over his face as he spoke from the heart. Skylar glowed as she heard his sweetest words. Their ceremony was officiated by one and only than Baxter Clement, owner of Casino Guitars and a dear friend of the couple. Having someone who knows their story so well made the ceremony even more personal and meaningful. It was a perfect reflection of the community of love surrounding them.
The reception was a joyful mix of laughter, heartfelt toasts, happy tears, and plenty of delicious food. Sean and Skylar’s friends and family filled the room with love, celebrating their new chapter with energy and warmth. The day flew by in the best way, filled with moments we’ll never forget. Sean and Skylar, it was such an honor to capture your wedding. Your love is genuine, your story is beautiful, and we know the future holds so many adventures. Here’s to many more years together—have fun and keep rocking in love and in life.
