A Summer Celebration Full of Love, Legacy, and Joy

Joe and Erika’s wedding day at the Pinehurst Resort was a seamless blend of elegance, heartfelt tradition, and deeply personal moments. With every detail intentionally chosen and every memory rooted in family and legacy, it was a day that beautifully honored both their love and the generations who came before them.

The day began at Erika’s parents’ home, where the women were nestled together, surrounded by laughter and a house full of gorgeous florals, lovingly arranged by Erika’s mother. It was the kind of morning that felt warm and calm — a celebration already quietly blooming before a single guest had arrived. I was greeted with the kindest smiles from Erika’s mom and her closest friends, and you could just feel how loved Erika is.  From the very start, their day was woven with sentiment. Joe’s wedding band, a treasured heirloom from Erika’s grandfather, carried not just symbolism, but story. Erika wore a delicate necklace with a diamond, her maternal grandmother’s wedding stone — a piece she wears every day — and a stunning pearl pendant reimagined from her paternal grandmother’s ring. Joe’s grandfather’s watch rested on his wrist, a timeless detail tying the past to the present.

One of the most intimate moments of the day was their private first look at the charming Pinehurst Village Chapel. It was soft, quiet, and undeniably sweet — a moment just for them amidst the excitement of the day.  Joe’s groomsmen brought such fun and camaraderie, keeping the energy light and joyful. Their support of Joe — and obvious admiration for Erika — was the perfect backdrop to the day.  The ceremony took place at the Village Chapel, filled with reverence and joy. My favorite part of every military wedding — and this one was no exception — was the Saber Arch. As Joe and Erika passed through the archway of swords, it was as if tradition and celebration came together in one perfect moment.

The reception was held at the Pinehurst Members Club, overlooking the iconic Pinehurst No. 2 golf course. With sweeping views, heartfelt toasts, and dancing that carried into the night, it was a reception full of laughter, love, and just the right amount of cake.  Speaking of cake — it wouldn’t be a complete celebration without Cleo, their beloved pup, who made a sweet appearance as the cake topper, playfully “sneaking” a bite of wedding cake. It was such a perfect, lighthearted touch that brought smiles to everyone’s faces.

Joe and Erika, your wedding day was a beautiful tapestry of legacy, love, and personality. It was a true honor to witness your story — one that I know is only just beginning.
