Our First little Garden
I have to say that I am blessed that I have two healthy little girls with very healthy appetites. They are actually really good cooks and eat pretty well. Now don't get me wrong...they both have a massive sweet tooth (who can blame them. They get it from their mom) and would opt for sweets over any type of vegetable. But they do like to prepare and eat what they make, even the veggies!
So after reading a book called "Cultivate...a grace fill guide to growing an intentional life" I decided to start a garden. Each each, we plant herbs in the front of our house, but this year I gave my kids the option of growing more. Addy wanted pumkins and watermelon (which is surprisingly her least favorite fruit) and Izzy wanted to grow strawberries. So we decided to get strawberries, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, lettuce, and a bell pepper. If anyone of you have followed me for a little while, you will know that my kiddos love to make faces...not normal ones of course. If you didn't know this, you will now.
It was a joy putting the small raised bed together with my dad and the girls and then planting with my mom. Of course our pups needed to see what all was going on (the main reason for the raised bed...my little counter-surfing Fender).
And so we planted. Now we water and wait for God to produce the fruit.
I hope next year to expand the garden, but given the busy season we are in, this little garden will have to do.
